Why AiEraser processes your photos in your browser, not on a server

privacyhow it works

Most "remove EXIF" websites work the same way: you upload a photo, their server strips the metadata, and you download the result. That is convenient, but it means a copy of your photo — GPS coordinates and all — has already left your device before any privacy protection happens.

The problem with uploading first

A photo that contains sensitive metadata is exactly the kind of file you would least like to hand to a third party. Even if a service promises to delete uploads, you are trusting a policy you cannot verify.

What AiEraser does instead

For JPEG, PNG and WebP files, the reading and stripping happens entirely inside your browser tab. The file is opened locally, the metadata blocks are located and removed, and a clean copy is offered for download. Nothing is sent over the network.

Where a server is still involved

Two features need more than a browser can comfortably do:

In both cases the file is processed in memory for the request and is not stored.

How to check for yourself

Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and strip a JPEG. You will see no upload request. Verifying a privacy claim yourself is always better than taking it on trust.

Tip: strip metadata before you share a photo. Once a copy exists somewhere else, its metadata cannot be recalled.

Ready to try it? Head to the tool, or read our guide to EXIF data first.

Curious what your own photos are carrying? Check and clean them right in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
